The
Gallatin River
The
Gallatin River is located just west of Bozeman and is known for it’s
abundance of fish and it’s unbelievable scenery. Starting
about 70 miles south of Bozeman and flowing North following U.S. Highway
191 most of its length, the Gallatin has easy access and is a great choice
for wade fishing all year long.
Current Conditions & Fishing Strategy 6-28:
Right now the canyon stretch of the Gallatin is a kayaker's paradise with the river being high and muddy, although above the Taylor's Fork and inside Yellowstone National Park the river is clear and fishing well. We probably have a week or so before we will be fishing anywhere below the Taylor's Fork, if not longer as there is still plenty of snow up there! Recommended Fly Patterns Nymphs:
Twenty Incher, Superflash Pheasant Tail, TNT Caddis Pupa, Hare's Ear Gallatin River Flows Gallatin Gateway: Average Flow: 1810 cfs Current Flow: 4220 cfs More on the Web
