The Missouri River
Beginning its journey near the town of Three Forks, the Missouri is a culmination of the Gallatin, Madison, and Jefferson rivers.  While there is some trout fishing to be had along its entire course, most of the trout fishing is below Holter Dam down to the town of Cascade. The spring creek like qualities of this tail water section can make for challenging but very rewarding fishing.

Current Conditions & Fishing Strategy
6-28: The Missouri is still flowing high and clear with the fishing still remaining good. Wade fishing isn't really an option, but nymph fishing out of a boat has been good. Fishing nymphs deep is your best option, so don't forget your extra split shot. Try using a larger San Juan worm above a smaller one. There are a lot of PMD's and even Caddis out, however the water is still moving too high and fast to bring the fish to the surface.

Recommended Fly Patterns
Nymphs:
San Juan Worm followed by a San Juan Worm, Scud patterns in orange or tan, Pheasant Tail

Streamers: Brown or Black Wooly Buggers,
JJ Special, Clouser Crayfish
