Although it is sometimes overshadowed by our bigger rivers, the Gallatin River is close to Bozeman and offers an angler peace, serenity, and a chance to fish a wild freestone river in an outstanding setting. Anyone who has stepped inside the mouth of the canyon will tell you that this may be one of the most picturesque rivers in southwest Montana. With crystal clear water flowing through rugged pine tree forest speckled with rock canyon walls, it's no wonder this river was chosen as the setting for much of the movie "A River Runs Through It"
As for the fishing, the Gallatin River offers lots of action while still providing the opportunity to catch nice sized fish. Easy access for the wading angler is one of the keys to fishing the Gallatin allowing you to fish many different locations in a single day. Due to its smaller size and rocky nature, most of our guided trips on the Gallatin are walk/ wade trips with the exception of the lower river which we can float when water conditions permit.
