3580 CFS @ Gateway - The Gallatin is still running high, dirty, and isn't the best fishing option around, at least on the lower stretches. If you do head that way to fish, be careful while wading in the runoff conditions and bring along some heavy stonefly nymphs. It's worth checking the river out above the Taylor Fork, however, as it sometimes stays fishable upstream of the confluence this time of year.

Recommended Flies:

Firebead Steely #6

Rubberlegs #4

Girdle Bugger Camo #6

Serengold #14

JR Streamer Black #6

2140 CFS @ Gateway - The Gallatin is dropping and slowly rounding into fishing shape. While it's still a bit high, the clarity is improving daily and fishing should pick up this week. Throwing nymphs and streamers will be the most productive, but keep an eye out for stoneflies and salmonflies, as they should start flying on the Gallatin soon.

Recommended Flies:

Mongrel Meat #1
Yuk Bug, Brown #4
Blackout Stone #6
SH Bead Head, Olive #14

2580 CFS @ Gateway - The Gallatin has risen steadily over the past week, with dirty water pouring in from the Taylor Fork. Wading will be difficult, if not dangerous, so be careful out there. On the upper stretches in Yellowstone National Park all the way to the Taylor Fork, however, the water should be fishable. Focus on stonefly nymphs and caddis pupa with your nymphs, along with big, dark streamers.

2260 CFS@Gateway - The Gallatin River is pretty dirty throughout the canyon and down in the valley but is very fishable above the Taylor's Fork where most of the mud is originating. The park section looks great as well and that opens this weekend. While the water is very cold, nymphing stonefly and caddis patterns should produce some nice fish.
