The Spring Creeks are steady and consistent this time of year. Clear and low water means spooky fish, so make your 1st cast count! Nymphing small patterns and long, lighter tippets is key. 4X is as big as we would go. Be sure to check rod availability before you head out as spots are filling us fast. Small leeches and buggers are fun this way too.

Right now, the Spring Creeks are fishing pretty consistently, but mainly subsurface. It's a little early for most of the major summer hatches, but watch out for midges and BWOs on overcast days. Some caddis may even pop on warmer evenings. Anglers have been having the most success with BWO and midge nymphs, as well as pink scuds and sowbugs.

The Spring Creeks in Paradise Valley have been fishing well over the past week or so. Hatches currently consist mostly of midges and baetis, especially on the cloudy days. The nymphing has been most productive while the dry fly fishing has been spotty at best, but much better on the calm overcast days. Dry fly fishing should pick up as we start to see Caddis, hopefully next week.

The Spring Creeks south of Livingston are an excellent choice this time of the year. Winter rates are still in effect until April 15th and more fish seem to be moving in from the Yellowstone River daily. After the 15th, the rates go up, but the fishing only gets better. Dry fly fishing has been decent for the patient angler. Baetis and midges have been out in decent numbers on the overcast days. Wind has been a factor as well. Nymphing has been excellent. If you head over, be cautious of where you wade and please stay off the redds.
